LA: Beauty in the smog

Before I moved away from Los Angeles I was driving to and from work through Skid Row. It is as its name presents - the stain from the underside of downtown. I called this the soul-sucking drive. Happy to rid myself of this awful sight and breathe in the clean air of Vancouver, BC, I was able to bring clarity through the dense smog that hovers over the city; LA you are not so bad, you're beautiful in your own dirty way.

Stay tuned for my from my trip!

Vancouver in winter

When I first visited in February 2014, back before we'd decided to move and Joe was still living here, I fell in love with it's beauty. So peaceful but full of color and life. Another winter to look forward to.

It's only still summer..bummer

One of my favorite things to look at is fog. I love the way it wraps itself around mountains and rolls over water; the way it rests over sand and passes through trees. It's mysterious and makes me always think of fall and ghosts, and pumpkin spice lattes. But it's only still summer..bummer.

The blur I call life

Most days I wake up not knowing what I am going to do. I then proceed to make a list, which Joe my boyfriend makes fun of me for. The list tells me what time and what exactly I am supposed to do. If I don't make these lists my life becomes a blur.

I just moved to Los Angeles, CA and before that I was still unsure of what and where I wanted to be. The "what" being the kind of photographer I can appreciate and be happy being. The "where" being my final destination. The sort of in-betweens I wanted to indulge in will have to come later because I have already reached my end destination.
Traveling has always been something I want to do; Walking through the streets of Paris, riding a gondola down the waters of Italy, driving through the hills of Ireland. Not only is it important to crave my ever growing taste for culture but it's important to my photography. I need to see the world through my lens because through my eyes it just isn't good enough.

I am not complaining about being in California, don't get me wrong. I have moved here with a wonderful man and the best dog in the world. I start headstrong and work my way backwards. This seems to be how I work best, at the forever continuing blur I call life.
